My conversations with residents and business owners during the past four years reveal shared concerns and desires for the future of Ward 1 and the rest of our Township.

Bringing Accessible Health Care Closer to Home

As we watch our community grow and thrive, it is essential to provide strong local health care services.

 

With a wealth of knowledge and policy experience in the health care sector, I have been the catalyst for planning around an innovative health care facility as part of our multidisciplinary health care facility initiative.

I look forward to continuing this essential project in my second term.

Building a Community for All Ages

From our youngest residents to our more seasoned citizens, my goal is to boost our overall well-being and expand activity offerings.

With the majority of our Township aged 55 or older, we need to be proactive and anticipate the future needs of our seniors; they deserve to age gracefully and remain in our community.

For our youth, I look forward to helping enhance the opportunities already available through our many recreation programs.

I’m also committed to working with neighbouring communities to collaborate and bring new services to our younger population.

Responsible Governance and Financial Planning

A focus on financial planning and fiscal stewardship is an important part of what we do as council members. Doing it responsibly, is critical.

Collectively, our stewardship of Taxpayer Funds over the past four years has resulted in the third lowest tax rates in Renfrew County. This is an outcome we can all be proud of.

During this past term, expenditures on new programs/projects have been augmented through innovative and successful applications for grants and funding.

 

We have accomplished these activities without having to tap into taxpayer dollars.

Two of our most notable grants include:

• funds for new signage throughout the Township

• funds for the Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC), supporting older adults from across Greater Madawaska

Our 2023-2026 Strategic Plan provided the framework for aligning township revenues with identified priorities.

I'm a staunch believer in fiscal transparency. We as councillors have a fiduciary responsibility and accountability for the oversight and spending of every taxpayer dollar.
